Welcome to a new school year! We are excited and optimistic about the opportunities that this year brings. Despite budget reductions and the current economic environment, we continue to offer students well-balanced meals to fuel their academic day. Over the past year, we have streamlined our menus and operations. By tightening our belts and getting back to the basics, we have been able to continue to offer quality meals with fresh fruits and vegetables, all while holding off price increases. Our focus on quality meals and student preference has lead to increased student satisfaction and reduced waste. We recently held a vendor summit to work with our providers and continue to improve our menus based on student preferences.
Our goal is simple: to offer every student a quality breakfast and lunch. We strive to provide our students with the nutrition they need not only for each school day, but also to help them form healthy lifetime habits.
A few reminders for this year:
· All schools offer breakfast. Students who qualify for reduced-priced meals receive breakfast at no charge. We encourage all parents to bring students to school a little early so that they may enjoy breakfast and are ready to learn when they enter the classroom. Café LA Menus
· Please remember to fill out a 2009-2010 Application for Meal Benefits. Over 79% of our students qualify for free or reduced price meals. We encourage everyone to fill out an application. Visit our Free/Reduced Meal Apps section for more information and step-by-step instructions.
