Vendor's SummitThe Food Services Division of LAUSD, recently held the Second Annual Vendor Partnership Summit at the California Endowment, in Los Angeles for current and prospective vendors. The event was held on July 21, 2009, and attracted over 100 participants. It included 6 hours of presentations, discussions, and a Q&A session involving procurement and food services strategic plan.

In the MediaAs the new school year begins, we have been working diligently to inform our parents and students about our menus and programs. With various TV appearance and informational messages on television, including the KTLA Morning Program, Univision and KLCS, we have been able to inform parents about our meals programs and applications.

Cafe LA ModernizationWelcome to the “New Face” of Café L.A.! The Division launched the Café LA Modernization project in June 2008 with funding from bond measures. It is designed to entice our middle and high school students to eat at Café LA by enhancing their overall experience.

Breakfast Superhero and Cafe LA 5 Star Chef Challenge Winners!During National Nutrition Month (March), the Food Services Division held two contests that helped educate students while encouraging them to express their creativity. The Breakfast Superhero contest asked students to create their own Superhero and explain what special powers they possessed in order to "Power-Up" with school breakfast. Cafe LA's first 5 Star Chef Challenge, culminated with the top three students competing in front of our judges, audience and television crew. Making a DifferenceMargret Goff joined FSB in 1970 and has spent nineteen of those years as Cafeteria Manager at Eagle Rock HS, Margret has served a countless number of students throughout her career. Allowing her staff unbridled opportunities to learn has resulted in many of her employees being promoted during her tenure at Food Services. Her professionalism with school-site administrators and staff has brought a great wealth of knowledge to her school community. |
